LIBERTY ENLIGHTENING THE WORLD
(The Statue of Liberty) SOLD OUT

America’s most famous symbol of democracy and beacon of refuge for immigrants was given by France in 1884 as a gesture of friendship. Reaching 305 feet above Bedloe Island’s Fort Wood, Lady Liberty was created in copper repoussee (hammered over a mold) by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi on an iron framework designed by Alexsandre Gustave Eiffel.

The Statue has greeted generations of immigrants as they streamed into New York harbor enroute to a new life in a new land. Today, with torch held high, “Liberty Enlightening the World” embraces all people with dignity, a promise of opportunity, and hope for the future.

President Grover Cleveland dedicated The Statue of Liberty on Oct 28, 1886. Congress renamed the island, Liberty Island, in 1956. The Statue of Liberty National Monument is maintained by the National Park Service.
